DIY Koi Pond Update 2023 - Labour Day Morning Feeding
First of all, thanks for this. You saved me time and money. Secondly, dont try this unless you are pretty seasoned mechanic. You need to be in pretty good shape to pull this off. There isnt much room to get leverage on the ratchet. I didnt help things waiting til 260k to replace the plugs. They were almost seized. Neeeded to be worked back and forth carefully. Not something you want to do on the back 3 plugs.. but again, thanks sir. Id buy you a beer if I could.
Hahaha! Thanks! On a hot summer day like today, I would love a cold beer!🍺😀
So I got everything done today to the point of reassembling the housing with the new bearing. I spun it by hand and it sounds like this ua-cam.com/users/shortsNkWunFj6JJY I am thinking this is not how it should sound. It sounds a bit like the whine from before. The other smaller bearing spins smoothly with no noise with the old bearing removed and before I reassembled with the new bearing.
Nice video! I get the same symptoms when my pump gets buildup.
Thank you!
At least it wasnt a great quality fish , accidents happen mate
Yes, you are right! Accidents happen then life goes on. Thanks!
Is this RAV4 a V6 or 4CYL?
It’s a 4-cylinder.
This is what I need to do as well since I have a 2013 xle with nav. However, this video is simply not fully clear or complete on the connections.
Sorry if this video is not as good as your expectation. You can keep searching for a better one.
Btw, this video did provide some info on the complications when you have xle or limited. I was just not able to follow where the resistor was put and a clear understanding of the wire layout in that connector. If I tackle this I’ll do a video as well. Right now I’m trying to decide if I want to use an aftermarket camera which will provide a higher resolution anyway.
Nice party where was this at?
Hehehe! It’s 10 yrs ago. I just don’t remember exactly location but somewhere in Ontario, Canada.😀
The drummer Souky and u all were great but what happened to the dancers? 😆
Yep! They were all great, dancers too! 😀
Damn ur great as my bro Pouky. 👍🌶👍
Could you send me the plans and materials list for the system please. Thanks
Please read the video description or message me via FB Messenger for more details. Thanks,
Sorry this happened. I lost one of my fish yesterday too. I think it was swim bladder issue but happened so fast.
Wow! Now that you mentioned ‘swim bladder’. One of my koi has been swimming on its side for a while now. This koi may have swim bladder issue too. 🤞👍
How’s it doing now? I haven’t lost any more so far. Knock on wood it was isolated.
It’s still swimming sideways but still very active. I haven’t been able to catch it to isolate from other fish. I just added some pond salt in the pond a few days ago. Hopefully that will help it and not spreading the sickness to other fish. 🤞
Never assume whats inside the transmission is the correct level unless you bought the car new. It might be overfilled by a previous mechanic. I would leave the drain plug out and the plastic straw in. When you refill with fresh fluid, any extra fluid will leak out the plastic overflow tube. This is the correct amount.
Yes, this estimated method on transmission that never been serviced before and assuming correct level filled from the factory. Your method is only correct if the transmission fluid temperature is between 35 & 45 °C (that’s how’s it’s supposed to be done with a Toyota Techstream and transmission put into special mode). If you do it when the fluid at room temperature, you are overfilling your transmission. That’s because when that fluid gets heated up to 35°C and above, it will expand which gives more volume.
I would like you to send copy of the 3 barrel system await copy to get started Brent
Thank you for your interest in this system. Please read the video description for more details how to obtain a building plan and material list.
Thank you for this video Now I have a question when do you buy those RCA cables with taps on the other end
Those RCA cables w/ tap connectors were custom made. You basically have to get the regular RCA cables and crimp on the tap connectors yourself.
@@PTranProductions thank so much I will do the same
@aimekatsuva1209 Np!
Sorry to hear about your lost. That's an unfortunate accident. Why wasn't the mesh grill there in the first place? Anytime there is a place for a fish to explore, they will go there regardless if there is danger or not. They don't know danger until it is too late. Make sure that the grill opening isn't big enough for any other fish to fit through.
Yes, I had the screen before but it caught too much string algae and debris so quickly at the entrance. So I want to try w/out the screen and let the leaf basket do all the work. Yes, screen opening is fairly small to stop small and that size of fish going in the skimmer box. Thank you!
Too bad .. sorry.. at least its just the one
Thank you! Yes, only one lost this time.
I fix the problem .. just set a new rear differential coupler
👍
Hi sir..for this system dont u need crush coral? And why crush coral r not included?
No crushed coral. Crush coral would be a cheaper option but they’re not as easy to clean as K-media once they get saturated.
Woah what a nostalgia trip! I remember pointing and laughing at the captive whales when I was but a 6 year old grasshopper. I would mock their prisons and pretend to swim away without them. thanks for the great memories!
I’m looking at buying a 2005 MR2 Spyder and this video helped. Do you still have yours?
Yes, it’s going to third year of ownership this year.
nice video mate
Thank you!
Nice filter system.
Thanks! It’s still doing a pretty good job this year. 😀
@@PTranProductions what’s your pond temperature? Mine is currently sitting at 19 C.
@KoiRun50 It’s 18.7 °C right now.
The pump causes the turbulence and thus bubbles. Perhaps a vacuum pump can work better.
Yes, perhaps!
I also drain as much out as I can get out and then use window screen over the shop vac so it does not suck the media up and shop vac the bottom of the barrels before filling back up
Wow! Very thorough cleaning! That’s a good idea vacuum the bottom of the barrels with the shop vac! Doe it pick up any good chunk of mud/dirt when you do that?
I do it your way you have to agitate the media to get all the particles off
Yes, that’s the only way to clean them.
Thanks for the video. I just built a 2 stage filter system myself. A few of things I've learned are to install a valve at the pump outflow to slow down the initial filter housing fill and purge out any air bubbles, before opening the valve to full flow. I also put a second piece of wood on top of the frame so that I can flip the whole thing over at the end to thoroughly drain the wine and reduce waste- Fill right side up, finish upside down. Finally, I always purge the filter system and the receiving carboy with co2, so that any bubbles formed will not contain any oxygen. Best of luck and Happy Winemaking.
Good tips! Thanks!
BlaCK ASS DRUMMER!
Nice spoilers man where did you get them from?
Thanks! I bought it on eBay.ca from a US seller. www.ebay.ca/itm/131841726077?mkcid=16&mkevt=1&mkrid=711-127632-2357-0&ssspo=0dx_Ulh3QlK&sssrc=4429486&ssuid=Ahg_4LbmT6O&var=&widget_ver=artemis&media=COPY
Awesome video! I built the same filter. What uv are you using? And what air pump and stone are you using? Thanks
UV: Jebao 55W UV sterilzer Air stone: 8” disk Air pump: 1700 Cubic inch/min pump
Your mechanic shop is not it NYC ? I wish you were in NYC to fix my car same problem
😀
I was looking for a vid on how to access the belt for this model and this was the only teardown vid I could find on UA-cam, not quite a belt replacement vid but helped a lot! Thanks
You’re welcome! 👍
Have You got a video as how it was build Please ? Thank You
Here’s my version: DIY 3-Barrel Filter System for Koi Pond ua-cam.com/video/u_JdR6ghwPU/v-deo.html Thanks to the original design from Mr. @Wrighty. You can visit his channel to see his video.
Why did you put a screen on the front inlet? You want it open for debry
To prevent small fish getting into the skimmer box and get sucked down to the leave basket. Screen opening is big enough to allow small leave and flowers to get through. However it does collect string algae overtime which requires cleaning.
Why do you need a moving bed in this system? I like to setup for the UV light, pretty neat!
The moving bed is the house for beneficial bacteria.
I didn't expected this but it actually worked. Low quality UA-cam video's from 10+ years ago are the best!
👍
I've been cleaning my skimmer ever few days too. I have a Burr oak over the pond. It's been dropping a lot of "flowers" too. Question, why do you have a screen on the skimmer box inlet? With your skimmer design, I would think it would be very fish friendly as they can swim in and out. Your plants are looking nice. Mine are only just getting going in most cases.
Yes, Spring time is the time the skimmer works the hardest due to dropped flowers and leaves. There were some instances that small fish got into the skimmer box and got sucked down to the basket. That’s why I implemented that screen at the inlet just to avoid such incident. Happy pond season, again!
How much media do you have in the static barrels?
2 cubic feet in each barrel.
I did this on a 2012 sienna and only got 1 qt and 147 ml out. Plus l used a $7 manual bottle pump.
Did you remove the plastic straw inside the drain plug?
👍👍
Do you have a video how you made that
The only video I have of how the skimmer box was made is here: ua-cam.com/video/SpZsQvnRJlQ/v-deo.htmlsi=EJlLa6uDd3Bkbsez Thanks to Mr. @wrighty, You can see the original design here: ua-cam.com/video/fFFcME5HZCg/v-deo.htmlsi=aA2m1IO8Cl2R-v1q
You don't have to blow air back in. This type of system is set up to settle. Yiur drains are set up perfect. But mixing up just stirs it up and breaks up your bio colony on the k1. If you just open each valve for 5 or 10 sec each you will draw all the muck from bottom of tanks and not lose much water. I built one like this a while back and this is how I do mine. Yiu want to bacteria colony on the media to help keep nitrogen down. Just my 2 cents but it is a nice looking build. Try next time just pulling much from bottom without aeration and yiu will see you get much more muck and lost less water. Also use the drain off for plants in yard as plants love the fish emulsion
Thanks for your tip! I’ll try next on the first cleaning cycle. You are right. Draining all accumulated muck and dirt at the bottom first before blowing the air in is a great idea. However the media themselves are quite dirty over time which need to shake off those dirts during cleaning. My barrel #3 - the moving bed - is the main house of beneficial bacteria. Other two barrels mainly serve as mechanical filters.
@@PTranProductions yeah you want to try to keep the bacteria built up in the media.
Good Video, If you're not making modifications, you're not watching your fish or your pond I personally am making simple changes all the time
Thank you! Yes, continuous improvement to make things better.
I like who your pond look!!!!!!
Thank you!
Hello Sir. I hope you are well. You have done a Awesome job. I like the modification. It is always good when the Pond is fully running again. I liked that you finished the video off by feeding the fish. The 4th like is now up. Thankyou very much for sharing. Have a great Week and take care, Sir. 🤙🏼🙂🤙🏼❤️
As always, thank you so much for your support! 👍✌️👌
@@PTranProductions My pleasure, Sir. 🤙🏼🙂🤙🏼❤️
Nice modification on the your skimmer basket. Why does you pond overflow? From rain?
Thank you! Too much rain water in the spring caused the pond flooded and overflowing around the lower edges of the pond.
Hi,I’m interested in purchasing the plan for this filtration system and material list

Hey brother can you tell me which seal needs to order for the right and left side differential to connect to the axle because my car left and right leaking needs to replace the seal thanks
Sorry, I don’t know the PNs for those seals. You need to contact your local Toyota dealer to ask for the correct PN and to order.
Its do to the end on the racking cane makimg the wine bounce back upwards just use a longer tube and coil it at bottom so when it comes out its just flowing unrestricted
Thanks for the tip! 👍
I like the high amount of air you're getting into the wine that's not good
No, it’s not good.
